last day in Canada
Just one last night!
Tonight, we can still enjoy the light, the air, the cool temperature in north America, feeling the beat of Canada’s heart.
One month is not long in the whole life. It is not short, neither. How often can we have such a month exploring a different world? Thanks to Canada. Thanks to its kindness. Thanks to its people to whom I admire for their warm hearts. It shows me a different attitude towards life.
It is time to say goodbye. Maybe, I will come back one day, or say farewell for ever.
When someone is metioning Canada, I may can’t help saying it’s great! And its capital is Ottawa, not Toronto or Vancouver.
we meet governor in Rideau Hall!
It’s interesting to find that the one who said “hello” to us with his hand shaking is the governor. It sounds cool. And we are lucky today. At the beginning we just wondered maybe he was one of some visitors =_+.
Ha~Actually, Vincent Van liked batman and superman too!

Integration or Assimilation
1、In your opinion, do you think integration (like the Mosaic) or assimilation (like the melting pot) is the better way to have a Multicultural society?
- Remember Canada traditionally is trying to be the Mosaic but the Reporter in the film stated that the Canadian and American approaches are starting to “dove tail.” What do you think “dove tail” means?
- keep in mind topics such as: segregation, national unity, culture, acceptance, racism, stereotypes, and sharing of cultures
I think integration is the better way to have a Multicultural society,
Because inegration need not to demolish different cultures to make a new one which really decreases the racial conflicts and ease the anxiety of abandoning migrants original background and adapting to a new one. Besides the varied cultures work together and keep their own nature which seems really good to have a full communication between diverse cultures. This multicultural society is a colorful picture as it remains different characters from different culture and it seems fresh and amazing. But it really need some tolerance for various people to put aside minor differences so as to seek common ground which may be pursuing the same happiness and liberty for human beings. There mustn’t be any powerful culture so that it will not risk the balance.
That’s may be the reason why the first thing comes to my mind when someone refers to Canada, it’s nothing. I have no idea about what Canadian culture is or what Canadians look like. But when someone is talking about American, I will come up with the words like the world’s policeman, Hollywood, fast food and amazing miracle which called American dream.
So I come up with something seems a little far away from the question and I don’t know whether it is appropriate or not but I want to have a try:if it comes to a Multicultural country, assimilation is the better way to choose.
I don’t think a Multicultural society is the same as a Multicultural country. From my point of view, society is a organization or community where people work and live, but it has little connection with the history and core culture.
Thus, it may be the problem for a country without their own unique culture, I think. It’s hard to find out the core culture in Canada which can be a confusion for some second generations of the migrants. You find Chinese Canadians, Franch Candians, British Candians and so on. But you really can’t find the people who are pure Canadians as we can’t just label someone just by their nationality. Although there can not be any problem for all the Canadians to get together and have a harmony society. However, if new Canadians lose their own cultural background when adapting to a multicultural society, what should they turn to to comfort their puzzle and worry about who they are and which culture they belong to? Is the culture they lose when following the goals, or some others?
Maybe, it can be a good approach for Canada starting to “Dove tail”. “dove tail” is a nice begining toward a combination of different culture. And it seems to be a tendency that different cultures try to absorb similar civilizations to decrease the difference at rim.
I know the video about the cat…
Everything’s Better with Cute Animals (Including Travel Search!)
Mashable just announced our foray into video advertising. Here’s an early peek at the spot we’re hoping to air late-night on Comedy Central.
We thought we thought we’d see what some of the Internet’s most famous memes would look like with humans instead of adorable animals.
The results aren’t quite the same, which leads us to believe that everything’s better with cute animals (including travel search!).
Big thanks to SMBC-Theater for helping us get this all together and Shaun Sanders — master of hipmunk infographics — for making our chipmunk dance (and doing all the animation).
It’s really moving.
Guessing Game_1
en , I agree with you. She must be Joy.
i’m not sure …but i think so@_@
According to the last information, I think this is Joy. Am I right?
I think sometimes I’m not like a girl though I have shoulder-length hair. Maybe I’m not so slim but happy with that. I like smiling because I think it’s important for one person to live happily. So My English name has something to do with it.
Guessing who they are?
I do regular things when I get up every moring. I am not fat. I can do some cooking and I like it. I do my homework carefully. I can do some cooking and of my class mates to the shopping centre and choose thing for their father or BF.
en , who is she?
She does not study hard and all things in her brain is traveling and playing. She is the only child in family, but she seldom stays in home on holidays, which her parents have already sotlen used to.(en, I cannot quite tell the hand-writing) She is not so healthy but she does a lot of dangerous things while traveling.
Let us guess who is she? May be they are the same person or not. If we cannot find out, author please tell us herself.
Here I am, in Quebec
In Quebec, I wish I were just a flower feeling the cold and warmth of the old city.

It reflects something like a quirky fairy tale, or the film named Amélie.

It’s rude to pass quickly without marvelling at flowers, sky, the long-history wall of the constructions.
"Far from being a source of economic power, the dominance of the U.S. dollar has proven to be a millstone around America’s neck that has exacerbated our debt crisis, fueled the housing bubble that sparked the U.S. financial crisis, and caused our current account deficit to reach dangerously high levels. As the brilliant China-watcher Michael Pettis has argued, the dominance of the U.S. dollar has created an untenable situation in which America is forced to choose between rising unemployment and rising debt."
